The Department of Chemistry at the University of Missouri Kansas City is one of 18 departments within the College of Arts & Sciences, and one of four National Sciences and Mathematics programs in the College. It has three internal degree programs: BA in Chemistry, BS in Chemistry (ACS Certified), MS in Chemistry (both thesis and non-thesis). It is also a participating member of the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. (IPhD) program which provides essentially major and minor disciplines. The Department typically has 300 undergraduate majors a semester, as well as 30 Masters candidates and IPhD candidates a semester. Its missions include research, teaching, and service to the College, University, and region. The Department's research areas are extremely broad from development and characterization of bio- and namomaterials to the life and health sciences.
