Massachusetts Institute of Technology

The MIT IMES (Institute for Medical Engineering and Science) http://imes.mit.edu invites applicants to apply for a tenure-track faculty position to begin July, 2013 or thereafter. Appointment would be at the assistant or untenured associate professor level. In special cases, a senior faculty appointment may be possible. IMES is a new entity at MIT that aims to pioneer novel research and graduate education paradigms at the convergence of engineering, science, and medicine. IMES also houses the Harvard-MIT Health Science and Technology (HST) program. All appointments will be made in partnership with another MIT department. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in engineering, science, or a related field by the beginning of the appointment period. While all research areas are of interest, the Institute is particularly interested in candidates whose research is pertinent to the development of approaches to transform diagnosis (imaging, devices, computational algorithms, etc.), infectious diseases, and neurological disorders. The candidate should have demonstrated excellence in original research. Faculty duties include teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Interested candidates should submit application materials electronically at http://imes-search.mit.edu/. Each application should include: curriculum vitae; the names and addresses of three or more references; a strategic statement of research interests; and a statement of teaching interests. Each candidate must arrange for reference letters to be uploaded at http://imes-search.mit.edu/letters. Questions should be addressed to imes-search@mit.edu. Responses received by January 1, 2013 will be given priority.
