The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (20 faculty, 6 staff, ca. 150 biochemistry majors, 70 chemistry majors, ACS certified) has a full complement of instrumentation and subscribes to all major chemical publications. The Ph.D. program is over 50 years old. Occupancy of a new $103 M, 150,000 sf science building is anticipated for fall, 2004, as part of a university plan for expansion and growth. Baylor University (ca. 14,000 enrollment) is a Baptist University affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas. The 350-acre Waco campus includes the College of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School, Truett Seminary, and the Schools of Business, Education, Engineering and Computer Science, Law and Music. The Baylor College of Dentistry and School of Nursing are located in Dallas. The Academy of Health Science is located in San Antonio.
