Roanoke College

Roanoke College is a nationally ranked residential liberal arts college affiliated with the Lutheran Church (ELCA), located in the beautiful Roanoke Valley of Virginia. The Chemistry Department offers degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry and averages about 12 graduates per year. Our program is ACS-approved. Our facilities are well equipped with modern instrumentation, including 400 MHz NMR, IR, AA, HPLC, and GC-MS. We emphasize the use of this instrumentation in courses at all levels, starting with General Chemistry. We have 7.5 tenure track faculty members and 1 permanent non tenure track faculty member. Excellent teaching is our highest priority. We also value research. Each tenure track faculty member has a research lab in addition to access to the teaching facilities. Our BS Chemistry major requires a research project. The department's website, www.roanoke.edu/chemistry, provides much additional information on our program and facilities.
