The Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry & Physics of the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa is seeking candidates for a full-time, 1-year visiting position at the Assistant Professor level starting in August 2017.

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of 8,300 undergraduate and graduate students. The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa's dynamic central business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area. UT reflects this vibrancy; with 20 consecutive years of enrollment growth UT boasts 229 student organizations, a multicultural student body from 50 states and 140 countries, and "Top Tier" ranking in U.S. News & World Report.

The Department consists of 23 full-time faculty members, two academic staff members, and 225 majors. The Department offers eight Bachelor's degrees in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Forensic Science, and Physics with approximately 25 graduates per academic year from these programs. Two of the majors in Chemistry and Biochemistry are certified by the American Chemical Society, and another is accredited by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will be expected to teach 12 contact hours per semester. Contact hours are determined by in-class hours in a 1:1 relationship. The teaching load will be assigned by the department based on student demand. The course load may include general chemistry lecture and laboratory, chemistry lecture for non-science majors, chemistry lecture for health care professionals (general organic biochemistry). Depending upon the candidate's expertise, teaching assignments may also include organic chemistry laboratory. Scholarship and service to the University and professional community are encouraged but not required.

A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Education, or related discipline is preferred.
