Assistant Professor, Chemistry (Open Research Focus)
The Chemistry Department at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for three 9-month, tenure-track positions at the assistant professor level beginning August 2018, or earlier if feasible. The department seeks outstanding candidates with research focus in organic synthesis and polymer chemistry, biochemistry, and geo-environmental chemistry. Exceptional candidates with multidisciplinary interests across other areas of chemistry are also encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a doctorate in Chemistry or a related science from an accredited institution and at least two years of postdoctoral experience. Candidates will be expected to establish a vigorous independent research program, excel in teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels, and provide service to the university, college, department, and professional organizations.
Current research strengths within the Chemistry Department include materials chemistry, biochemistry, environmental chemistry, organic chemistry, photonics and forensic chemistry. At UCF we value interdisciplinary and collaborative endeavors. Successful applicants will be encouraged to develop strong research interactions both within and outside the department and across disciplines. Recent examples of interdisciplinary opportunities at UCF involving Chemistry include interdepartmental joint appointments and UCF faculty cluster hiring (e.g., Rational Design of Catalysts for Energy Applications and Propulsion; Sustainable Coastal Systems). Our department faculty have active research collaborations within the College of Sciences and with the College of Optics and Photonics, the College of Engineering and Computer Science, the College of Medicine, the College of Education and Human Performance, the Florida Solar Energy Center, the Nanoscience and Technology Center, and the National Center for Forensic Science.

The Chemistry Department has productive academic programs including the Chemistry Ph.D., Chemistry M.S., Forensic Science M.S., and ACS-accredited B.S. programs in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Forensic Chemistry, and Forensic Biochemistry.
