Assistant Professor of Chemistry
McDaniel College invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Chemistry, tenure track appointment to begin August 2018. Review of applications will begin on October 1, 2017 and continue until the position is filled.
The ideal candidate will have a background in physical or analytical chemistry. The candidate will also have a passion for teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment and will have the ability to make the subject matter relevant to biochemistry, allied health, environmental science, and kinesiology majors, as well as to the traditional chemistry majors that the department educates.

The Chemistry Department is well equipped with a 400 MHz NMR, UV-Vis, GC/MS, IR, HPLC, and supporting equipment.
Teaching responsibilities include both introductory and advanced courses in chemistry. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in chemistry with strong communication skills and teaching ability. The position offers the opportunity to develop an active research program that complements existing areas of undergraduate research in the sciences at McDaniel College. Possible research areas include materials science, nanotechnology, alternative energy, food chemistry, physical biochemistry and environmental chemistry. The candidate must comply with all related federal, state and local regulatory guidelines including but not limited to FERPA and Title IX; and must provide a safe learning environment for the students in the laboratory.
Required: Ph.D. in chemistry or a related discipline, in hand by the start of fall classes.
Required: College-level teaching experience, teaching assistantship level at a minimum
Preferred: Post-doctoral experience; ability to develop a research program with undergraduates.
