The Analytical Scientist will be a visible and engaged team member, reporting to the R&D Manager.  The Scientist will partner with various R&D team members and other key technical employees within the organization in order to positively influence the strategic direction and success of the organization from a technical and innovative process development, simulation and modeling vantage point. The individual will be resident Subject-Matter-Expert (SME) in the instrumentation and data analysis of XPS, NMR, Raman IR and other analytical instruments, as they relate to hydraulic fracking.

Responsibilities

  • Solid background in instrumentation and data analysis of XPS, NMR, Raman IR and other analytical instruments
  • Assist with day-to-day operation and data analysis of XPS, NMR, Raman IR and other analytical instruments
  • Develop proprietary models that provide high quality data and understanding of the materials used in hydraulic fracking
  • Utilize Design of Experiments (DoE) to efficiently carry out developmental work
  • Document and ensure technology transfer by working closely with other members of the R&D team, as well as Operations, Quality, Safety
  • Review technical journals and patent literature, as well as actively participate in intellectual property creation
  • Mentoring and coaching of the technical staff in the subject matter, as necessary

 

 

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of hands-on experience in instrumentation and data analysis of XPS, NMR, Raman IR and other analytical instruments
  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, or a related field
  • Additional background/experience various platforms used for the data analysis.
  • Prior knowledge working with Oil and Gas industry
  • Work experience data generation and analysis of polymer coatings and inorganics is a plus
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.  Highly effective writing progress reports and presentation to Executive and cross-functional teams
  • Highly collaborative, team player, self-motivated and goal-oriented 
  • Works with sense of urgency, strong attention to details, able to balance multiple tasks
  • Creative, ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment
