Assistant Professor-Environment Chemistry
The Assistant Professor-Environment Chemistry will teach courses that support the newly formed Department of Environmental Sciences (ENSC). Teaching assignments will comprise courses and laboratories at both undergraduate and graduate (MS) levels, including courses in introductory environmental sciences, environmental chemistry, analysis of environmental contaminants, and courses in the applicant’s area of expertise. ENSC seeks applicants in any chemistry specialization who will develop an active, independent research program that focuses on anthropogenic pollutants in real-world natural or built environments, and who would add novel research expertise to ENSC. Research facilities within the Department include a triple quad LC/MS, GC/MS, HPLC, GC/ECD, ICP/MS, AAS, and other instrumentation. Preference will be given to applicants who could contribute to interdisciplinary collaborations with ENSC faculty. The successful applicant will be expected to engage in scholarly work in environmental chemistry, involve students in their research, seek external grants to support an active research program, and produce scholarly publications. Service activities in support of ENSC, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the University, are expected.
Terms of Appointment
Academic (9-month), tenure-track, beginning August 16, 2018.
Commensurate with experience and credentials.
A Ph.D. degree in a field related to the position is required. Persons who have not completed all degree requirements by the beginning of the contract period (ABD) may be considered for a one-year term appointment at the rank of instructor until the degree is completed. Postdoctoral and teaching experience is desired.
