The Department of Physical Sciences at Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) invites applications for two tenure-track faculty to begin August 2018. One is Assistant Professor of Biochemistry (position 1), and the other is Assistant Professor of Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, or Medicinal Chemistry (position 2). The biochemistry/chemistry program resides in a state-of-the-art science facility that houses a wide variety of modern instrumentation. The program offers B.S. biochemistry and chemistry degrees, a M.S. degree, and interdisciplinary degrees in Forensic Sciences, Environmental Science, and Allied Health fields. For position 1, a Ph.D. in biochemistry or a related field is preferred. For position 2, a Ph.D. in biochemistry, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry or a related field is preferred. Qualified ABDs will also be considered for both positions. Duties include 1) teaching the lectures and laboratories for biochemistry and related classes at the undergraduate and graduate level for position 1. For position 2, teaching the lectures and laboratories for organic chemistry and related classes at the undergraduate and graduate level, 2) developing an ongoing biomedical research program, supportable through the NIH-funded New Mexico IDeA Network for Biomedical Research Excellence (NM-INBRE,, involving both undergraduate and graduate students, and 3) maintaining appropriate service to the department, college and university. Prior teaching experience is highly desirable. Ability to use modern instrumentation and techniques is also desirable.
