Assistant Professor of Chemistry (One Year Renewable Position)

The Department of Chemistry and Physical Sciences at Marian University-Indianapolis invites applicants for a one-year renewable position with the possibility of renewal for an Assistant Professor of Chemistry starting in Fall 2018. Exceptional candidates are sought in all areas of chemistry. Commitment to excellent and innovative undergraduate teaching is required. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in the General Chemistry curriculum and the possibility of teaching in ones area of expertise. Additionally, there may be an opportunity to perform research with undergraduate students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach 12 credit hours per semester.
- Mentor and advise students and supervise student research as well as internships.
- Be involved in service to the university and engaged in research and scholarship.
- Actively participate in curriculum development and assessment within the department.
- Actively participate in faculty meetings, campus events, intellectual discussions, fine arts performances, social events and sporting events.
- Be a team player, embrace a student centered culture, and be a part of a dedicated team of faculty and staff with a positive demeanor.
- Other duties as assigned.
- PhD in Chemistry.
- Record of strong accomplishments in teaching.
- Strong commitment to each student's success.
- Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues and students of diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Marian University.
- Interest in science education and STEM grants is a plus.
