Assistant Professor of Chemistry
The College of Arts & Sciences Department of Chemistry seeks to fill a tenure track, academic faculty teaching position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2018. All Valdosta State University faculty share the responsibility of teaching courses at multiple levels as needed in their respective disciplines. To carry out our comprehensive mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to successfully engage students as they launch or continue their intellectual journey.
Teaching responsibilities will include introductory and general chemistry and field of specialization. Organic Chemistry is the preferred area of specialization. In addition, polymer chemistry experience is desirable. Required qualifications include Ph.D. in Chemistry (preference given to those with a PhD in Organic or Polymer Chemistry); a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning; and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Valdosta State University is a comprehensive university with a student enrollment of approximately 11,350. Valdosta is a city of approximately 60,000 located just north of the Florida state line on Interstate 75, is served by a regional airport, and is within a two-hour drive of Jacksonville and Tallahassee, Florida. The department is comprised of eleven full time faculty and offers a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry with two tracks from which to choose and a pre-pharmacy program for students interested in applying to a pharmacy program. Our program is approved by the American Chemical Society (ACS).
