Physical Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science (CES) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in Physical Chemistry, preferably with a leading interest in ultrafast optical spectroscopy or computational chemistry, starting in the fall of 2018. The CES Department of NJIT, within the College of Sciences and Liberal Arts, is committed to exceptional core education in the liberal arts and excellence in research and scholarship. Many resources, facilities, and collaboration opportunities exist within the Department, College, University, and neighboring institutions. Competitive salary, start- up funds, and laboratory space will be provided. Minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical physics, chemical engineering or closely related field from an accredited institution and relevant postdoctoral research experience. The successful candidate is expected to establish an active, externally funded research program and to demonstrate excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching, particularly in Physical Chemistry related courses.

The Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science ( at NJIT offers BS, MS, and PhD Chemistry, BS Biochemistry, MS Pharmaceutical Chemistry, PSM Biotechnology, and BS, MS, and PhD Environmental Science degrees, and anticipates offering a BS degree in Forensic Science beginning Fall 2018. NJIT, conveniently located in the New York metropolitan area with an enrollment of over 11,000 students, is continuing to build internationally recognized programs in chemical and environmental sciences.
