Department of Physics and Engineering

College of The Sciences and Mathematics

West Chester University invites applications from highly qualified candidates with the vision and leadership skills to direct the development of the new biomedical engineering program within the College of The Sciences and Mathematics.  The position, which will start in August 2018, will be offered at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor, depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate.   The founding faculty member will have responsibility for managing future faculty hires in the program, further developing a solid curriculum, including instructional resources, and planning for ABET accreditation of the program.  The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field, have a distinguished record in research and scholarship that merits the appointment at a senior rank, a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate education, and demonstrated leadership, administrative, and interpersonal skills.  The finalist will enjoy an unprecedented opportunity to build a competitive biomedical engineering program in a region experiencing vigorous growth in biomedical, pharmaceutical and health care industries where the program can develop connections with industry partners. Though initially the successful candidate will work from the Department of Physics and Engineering, once the full faculty complement is in place, the direction of the position is for the finalist to eventually serve as Chair of a newly formed Department of Biomedical Engineering.
