The Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is seeking students interested in pursuing the MS or PhD degree in Chemistry or Environmental Science.  Qualified PhD applicants will be considered for competitive fellowships, graduate assistantships and teaching assistantships. Annual stipends are approximately $25,000 plus waiver of tuition and fees.  Research opportunities in cutting-edge areas include: atmospheric chemistry, advanced functional materials and sensors, biocatalysis, biodegradation of organic contaminants, biophotonics, circadian rhythm biochemistry, enzyme design, photovoltaics, luminescent probes, and light-activated agents for biomedical diagnostics and therapy.  More information about the program and faculty can be found at http://chemistry.njit.edu.  Applicants should possess a BS degree in the chemical sciences or closely related field; a GRE score is required. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required for all international applicants not holding a degree from a United States post-secondary institution. Candidates possessing a MS degree in chemistry may be eligible for an accelerated track. The MS degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, with a Biotechnology Professional Science Masters in option, is offered for those seeking a terminal MS degree or additional education before pursuing an advanced degree.  Though assistantships are typically not available for MS students, outstanding students may be considered for admission to the PhD program.  Applications and all required materials must be received by December 21, 2017 for consideration for financial support through university assistantships or fellowships.  Apply online for admission to the chemistry PhD program at http://www.njit.edu/admissions/graduate/howtoapply/criteria/phd-programs.php.
