Visiting Assistant Professor
The Department of Chemistry at St. Lawrence University invites applications for one, and possibly two, visiting positions beginning August 2018. We are seeking chemists interested in teaching courses in their specialties and general chemistry. The department teaches several small sections of general chemistry with an activity-rich student-centered curriculum. The teaching responsibilities include a combination of: (1) general chemistry and the general chemistry laboratory; (2) advanced courses depending on departmental needs and the expertise of the successful candidate. Specialties we are interested in include biochemistry, analytical, and materials chemistry.
St. Lawrence University is supportive of faculty mentored undergraduate research as a critical element of a liberal arts science education and all chemistry and biochemistry majors participate in a senior research project. Research and mentoring of student research is not required for visiting faculty but visitors are welcome to participate. The department houses an impressive array of instrumental and computational resources for the support of teaching and research. Details and additional information are available at our web site at http://www.stlawu.edu/academics/programs/chemistry. We welcome applications from candidates who bring diverse cultural, ethnic and national perspectives to their scholarship and teaching.
Interested applicants must apply online at http://employment.stlawu.edu uploading all required materials which are defined in the “special instructions to applicant” section. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
All offers of employment are contingent upon the finalist successfully passing a background (including criminal records) check.
