LECTURER/INSTRUMENTATION SPECIALIST. The Union College Department of Chemistry invites applications for a non-tenure-track faculty position beginning in Fall 2018 with the potential for part-time work beginning in June 2018. The candidate should have a Ph.D. in chemistry or a closely related field, significant breadth of experience with chemical instrumentation, and the potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching. Teaching responsibilities will be principally in laboratory courses in introductory chemistry, organic chemistry, and chemical instrumentation. This position carries a reduced teaching load to accommodate additional responsibilities, including maintenance of the department’s instrumentation for teaching and research, training of faculty members and students in the use of instrumentation, and working with other faculty to develop new instrumentation-based experiments for laboratory courses. Union College is an equal opportunity employer and strongly committed to student and workforce diversity. Increasing diversity and inclusiveness is a critical priority for Union and we invite applicants to share in their cover letter how they can further this goal. This is a three year renewable position. Please find the ad for this position at http://jobs.union.edu, and follow the submission instructions therein. Applications should include a CV, a statement of teaching interests, and a statement of experience with chemical instrumentation. In addition, we require both graduate and undergraduate transcripts and three letters of recommendation. The application deadline is Jan.19th, 2018, but review of completed applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Union College is a small, highly selective undergraduate institution with particular strengths in science and engineering.
