Westfield State University's Chemical and Physical Sciences Department invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Chemistry for fall 2018. Teaching assignments include upper-level biochemistry, general chemistry and other introductory chemistry courses, such as those for health science majors and associated laboratories. The standard teaching load is 12 hours per semester. Contributions to the University community, advising of students, and continuing scholarship are expected.
A Ph.D. in biochemistry or a closely related field is required, and the successful candidate must provide evidence of outstanding teaching ability or potential. Also required is a strong interest in teaching at the undergraduate level, the ability to expand course offerings in biochemistry and the health sciences, and the ability to engage chemistry majors in undergraduate research that will complement existing expertise in medicinal chemistry and structural biology. The versatility to teach other areas of chemistry is not required but may be helpful.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
