Assistant Professor: Medicinal Chemistry

The Department of Drug Discovery and Biomedical Sciences (DDBS), University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy ( http://www.sc.edu/pharmacy ) in Columbia, SC invite applications from outstanding junior scientists for a faculty position at the level of tenure-track Assistant Professor, with primary expertise in medicinal chemistry.  Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree, post-doctoral training and a significant track record of research accomplishments. The candidate will be expected to develop a strong, extramurally funded and nationally and internationally recognized research program in the discovery and development of targeted therapeutics (structure based design and synthesis of small molecule, peptide-based or nucleic acid-based drugs acting against macromolecular targets identified through genomic and/or phenotypic screening). Therapeutics areas would be expected to complement, but not necessarily be limited to, DDBS research foci in cancer and neuroscience. The candidate will also have excellent oral and written communication skills, and participate in graduate and professional education. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
