Assistant Professor Environmental Chemistry
Ball State University’s Department of Chemistry invites applications for a full time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Environmental Chemistry with a desired start date of August 17, 2018. Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in their discipline as well as general chemistry courses. The faculty member will also develop an active research program in environmental chemistry and complement the department’s existing research programs.
We are ranked by the American Chemical Society (ACS) as one of the largest producers of ACS-accredited chemistry majors in the state of Indiana and also rank in the top 10 percent in the nation in the number of graduating ACS-accredited chemistry majors. We are a department that has a long history of focusing our efforts on giving our undergraduate and graduate students a high-quality learning experience in both the classroom and the laboratory settings. We incorporate problem-solving sessions into many courses, have faculty supervision in all laboratories, encourage cooperative learning, and provide numerous opportunities for both formal and informal student-faculty interactions.
Minimum qualifications: PhD degree in Chemistry or closely related area from an accredited college or university at the time of application; postdoctoral research experience or equivalent; evidence of potential for excellence in teaching and in environmental chemistry research.
Preferred qualifications: Teaching experience at the collegiate level, e.g. teaching assistant, instructor, Assistant Professor; research interests that focus on an area which enhances the department’s existing research programs.
