Job Description:
SUNY Delhi seeks a dynamic, forward thinking and engaging Assistant Professor Faculty member to join the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences starting 09/01/2018. School of Liberal Arts and Sciences

We are seeking applicants who can teach Introductory and General Chemistry with the possibility of Organic Chemistry, and/or related science courses. The successful candidate will be creative, employ active learning techniques for lecture and lab (such as inquiry- and problem-based learning, cooperative learning, and case-studies), have enthusiasm for performing college service (such as advising, committee work, and attending college events), and be able to work collegially with peers within the School of Liberal Arts & Sciences and across all divisions. Teaching is the primary focus of this position, but support and opportunities exist for research and scholarship, and for developing research programs that include undergraduate students.

Program Development|
Participate in annual systematic assessment of program
Participate in analyzing data and makes recommendations for curriculum and programmatic revisions where necessary

Teaching Responsibilities|
Provide evidence-based instruction in accordance with the policies set forth by the College
Post and keep regular office hours for the convenience of students
Participate in the assessment of course, student learning, and program outcomes
Incorporate student service learning opportunities


  • Assist in advisement of students
  • Guide and counsel students toward personal and career development
  • Track student's completion of progression requirements

Academic & Organization Commitment|Serve on campus committees

  • Mentoring Adjunct Faculty
  • Special Projects
  • Participate in faculty meetings
  • Participate in accreditation reviews and reports
  • Engage in the academic and organizational life of the college

  • Ph.D. or international equivalent with an emphasis in Chemistry or Sciences
  • ABDs anticipating an earned degree December 18, 1018 will be considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching above-mentioned courses at the college level
  • Work experience in a laboratory or industrial setting
  • Ability to engage in scholarly activities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong attention to detail; and computer skills
  • Demonstrated ability to teach diverse populations
  • Understanding the value of civic engagement

Additional Information:

  • Salary $50,000 - $52,000
  • This is a 10 month academic year, tenure track position
