Analytical Research Specialist (Heparin Applied Research Center)

The Heparin Applied Research Center (HARC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is an industrial partnership, and was founded to advance Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s significant research in the area of bioengineered heparin.
HARC seeks candidates to fill an immediate need for an Analytical Research Specialist to provide analysis of samples generated in the lab in a timely manner to facilitate development of bio-engineered heparin (BEH) as well as supporting the day-to-day laboratory operations. The incumbent will perform various analytical tests, conduct analysis of data collected, and write up experimental results.
Candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry (master’s preferred), to include directly related analytical laboratory experience acquired during the course of the academic program. Alternatively, candidates may possess a Bachelor’s degree in another related field, so long as they also have two (2) years of directly related analytical laboratory experience. Experience in industry (biochemical, pharmaceutical or related field) is preferred.
Candidates must demonstrate computer literacy, including ability to use a variety of software packages to analyze data and perform statistical analysis. The ability to collect and record data using appropriate field specific systems, equipment and techniques is required. The ability and willingness to communicate effectively with team members, and to operate as a member of a team is essential. The ability to communicate statistical data in a clear, concise manner, as well as the ability to maintain accurate and detailed records is needed.
