UNITED STATES AIR FORCE ACADEMY. Assistant Professor of Chemistry (#18-26DFC). The Department of Chemistry anticipates filling one or more Assistant Professor of Chemistry positions beginning June 24, 2019. The initial appointment will be for three years, with successive reappointments possible. Tenure does not exist at the USAFA, but permanent civilian faculty are on rolling contracts that often extend into decades.  Responsibilities include teaching and developing general and upper level chemistry courses at the undergraduate level, establishing a research program involving undergraduate students, and service in support of the Department and Academy. Future promotion to Associate and Full Professor are possible with exemplary performance in all three of the academic missions (teaching, research, and service). A Ph.D. in Chemistry with emphasis in Physical Chemistry, Chemical Education, Science Education, or related field is required.  Preference will be given to candidates who have the potential to demonstrate excellence and innovation in teaching and research involving undergraduates.
