PROFESSORSHIP (W2/W3) FOR TECHNICAL CHEMISTRY: REACTION KINETICS OF MICRO- AND NANOSIZED MATERIALS 

commencing as soon as possible, ref. no. 2286 

Responsibilities: 

The successful candidate is expected to teach and conduct research in the field of technical chemistry. Teaching responsibilities include seminars and lectures in the BSc and MSc programs for chemistry and nanoscience at Universität Hamburg and the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH). 

Research expertise is expected to include a current field of technical chemistry such as the production of micro- or nanoparticles, simulation of chemical kinetics, reaction control, morphology control, and microfluidics. 

Research activities should complement the Department of Chemistry’s major focus on material and nanochemistry. Furthermore, overlap with the research areas of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences and with the Cluster of Excellence “Center for Ultrafast Imaging (CUI)” and cooperation with scientists at TUHH (for example in the area of reactor technology) and research institutes of the Helmholtz and Leibniz community in the Hamburg region is desired. 

Section 12 subsection 7 sentence 2 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) applies. 

Requirements: 

Academic qualifications and additional requirements as specified in Section 15 HmbHG. 

Additional criteria: 

Applicants are expected to have international research experience as well as a successful track record in acquiring external funding and carrying out externally funded projects. The University places particular emphasis on the quality of teaching and therefore requests that applicants provide details of their teaching experience and objectives. Applicants should outline their proposed scientific direction for this position in a research proposal. 

Following hearings, selected candidates will be assessed to ascertain skills in the areas of management and human resources.
