Environmental Scientist for Cincinnati, OH: Conduct research and provide support for on-going laboratory research activities, perform data management and record keeping, maintain equipment, track inventory supplies, and ensure proper QA/QC guidelines are followed. Research activities include conducting research in the area of oil spills, including designing and developing protocols for measuring effectiveness of oil spill remediation/countermeasures in various matrices including using agents such as dispersants, solidifiers and surface washing agents, analyzing results from experiments that are designed to clean oil spills including chemical and biodegradation experiments, characterizing crude oils and unconventional oils using various analytical techniques and instruments, studying oil droplet behavior, characterizing toxicity of oil spills, and developing methods to assess toxins in a wide variety of matrices such as waters, soils, sediments and tissue. As part of conducting these research activities, the successful candidate will design the experimental methodology, conduct the experiments and analyze samples from these experiments and conduct other routine analysis of environmental samples using analytical techniques such as UV-Vis, Fluorometers, GC-FID, GC/MS/MS, LC/MS/MS and LISST. In addition, the candidate will use advanced statistical techniques to analyze all data from these experiments and laboratory protocols, develop quality assurance project plans, standard operating procedures, health and safety plans, prepare data summary reports, write reports and journal articles, and present results at national and international conferences.
