ASSISTANT PROFESSOR of Analytical Chemistry

The Cal State LA Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry is accepting applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Analytical Chemistry. The selected applicant will be expected to establish a vigorous research program funded by external sources, publish peer-reviewed research papers, mentor and supervise undergraduate and Master’s research students, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in their area of expertise which may include but not be limited to:  Quantitative Analysis lecture and laboratory, Advanced Analytical Chemistry lecture and laboratory series, and General Chemistry lecture and laboratory, develop additional courses as needed, participate in student advisement, and engage in service to the University. 

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates for the position of assistant professor of Analytical Chemistry must meet the following minimum qualifications: (1) an earned doctorate in Analytical Chemistry or closely-related field from an accredited institution (or equivalent) is required; however, applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered.  For appointment, the doctorate must be completed by the date of appointment (8/19/19); (2) demonstrated research at the university level in the area of analytical chemistry; (3) evidence of publications in scholarly journals with an analytical chemistry focus; (4) evidence of teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. 

Preferred qualifications for the position include: (1) post-doctoral research experience; (2) Evidence of a research focus in spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and/or chemical separations; (3) Demonstrated experience and training in development and maintenance state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation; (4) Demonstrated experience mentoring undergraduate students in a research setting.
