Engineering Senior Chemist
Engineering Senior Chemist Southern Research, Cartersville, GA The Engineering Senior Chemist acts as a lead chemist in an analytical laboratory focused on water research, which requires equipment troubleshooting and technical consulting on behalf of internal and external clients. The individual must possess deep analytical expertise in water and environment water chemistry; capable of mentoring junior staff on process and procedure required to preserve, process, analyze, and quantify samples. Ensures laboratory equipment is maintained and that all necessary reagents and instrumentation is available to staff to carry out analytical work. Independently resolve technical issues that require the application of standard or new techniques. Develop methods for analysis of metals and the other parameters in complex water matrices, and conduct research on new analytical methods. QUALIFICATIONS MS in Chemistry or related field plus 5 years’ experience with the following: ISO 17025/ NELAC accreditation process and procedure; EPA methods for environmental water and solid samples including trace metal analysis; experience preserving/processing field samples; operation of wide range of analytical equipment; ICP/MS with reaction cell, HPLC, XRD, XRF, IC, GC/MS, AF, LC/MS; demonstrated capacity to develop analytical techniques in support of research activity; ability to recognize when current practice or procedure is inappropriate for requested analysis and the ability to modify such practices or procedures in a scientifically sound manner as to obtain defensible, reliable, accurate and precise date to meet the clients’ immediate needs.
