The Department of Chemistry at Kalamazoo College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry with a focus on Biological and Organic Chemistry, with the possibility of renewal for a second year.  Position will begin September 2019. A Ph.D. in Chemistry (or evidence of imminent completion) or the equivalent is required. Prior teaching experience is desirable, with candidates demonstrating an interest in undergraduate teaching. Candidates who have experience with programs and pedagogical approaches that are especially effective in attracting and retaining women and students who are typically underrepresented in the discipline are especially encouraged to apply.  Kalamazoo College has made a commitment to inclusive excellence.  The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to working with students, faculty and staff from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.  

Kalamazoo College is a nationally known liberal arts college of approximately 1,450 motivated students, offering an integrated undergraduate experience that weaves a traditional liberal arts curriculum into domestic and international educational experiences (www.kzoo.edu). It is a member of the Posse Program and home of the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership. Approximately 10% of its students major in Chemistry. Graduates of the Chemistry Department pursue studies in the health care field, graduate-level work in the discipline, or move directly into industrial positions.
