Position: Post-Doctoral Fellow
Organization: Food and Drug Administration Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research
Location: Bethesda MD
The Food and Drug Administration Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research is seeking a motivated post-doctoral individual to join The Division of Bacterial, Parasitic & Allergenic Products Laboratory of Bacterial Polysaccharides Vaccine Structure Group. The successful candidate will work with an experienced research team to investigate the structural aspects of glycoconjugate based vaccines.
The position will focus on mass spectrometry based approaches for analysis of glycoproteins and other glycoconjugates particularly in the area of vaccine antigens. Glycan array technologies will also be implemented to study viral pathogen interactions with host glycoconjugate receptors. These studies will facilitate a better understanding of how glycosylation can impact on vaccine performance and how glycosylation impacts the host-pathogen interface.
This position requires a Ph. D. in chemistry, biochemistry, structural biology or a related science. New graduates are welcome to apply. A background in mass spectrometry is required. Experience in carbohydrate, proteomics mass spectrometry and/or glycan array is a plus. The laboratory’s research crosses the boundaries between analytical chemistry, structural biology, biochemistry and microbiology. The laboratory develops state of the art mass spectrometric and glycan array platforms for use in FDA mission critical projects centered in issues surrounding glycosylation of key vaccine antigens. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to work in a team environment are required.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. To be considered for this position, please write or email your Curriculum vitae to:
