Lab Supervisor of the Environmental Engineering Labs at Ohio State

The Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering Department at The Ohio State University is seeking a full-time Lab Supervisor for the Environmental Engineering Program.  The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining the environmental engineering teaching and research labs in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering, including analytical instrument maintenance and calibration; responsibility for teaching lab set-up and oversight of clean-up; serving as the designated safety officer; conducting safety training for undergraduate and graduate students; maintaining chemical inventory and other safety program documentation; maintaining and calibrating analytical equipment in teaching and research labs; train and supervise undergraduate researchers; maintaining lab supply inventories, including order placement; coordinating hazardous waste management and pick-up.  This position is split between teaching (75%) and research (25%) support responsibilities.

Required Qualifications: MS in analytical chemistry or equivalent field, or BS in analytical chemistry or equivalent field with a minimum of 2 years of analytical chemistry experience; detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills; proficient use of computer software including Word and Excel, excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with maintenance and method development for ICP-OES, GFAA, GC/MS, LCMS/MS, HPLC, IC, TOC instruments; experience with instrument purchasing, EHS/lab safety experience; familiarity with water chemistry and environmental analysis; prior experience in research design; prior teaching experience.
