Technical Specialist -Adhesive Applications/Coating Technologies

Job Description
This position supports the development of new business opportunities and support of ongoing business. The individual in this position visits customers with the sales force, and independently as needed. Designs and provides technical guidance for lab projects and provides technical support for customer applications. Consults with colleagues, and Applications and Analytical Lab in initiating, coordinating and supervising projects for the development of our product lines in Pressure Sensitive Label and Graphics and Tape Adhesives, and Industrial Adhesives, and assists in the development of sales. Interacts with R&D, QC, and Manufacturing personnel as well as International colleagues in the development and maintenance of products.

Qualifications
- Minimum BS Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field. Advanced degree preferred. BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.
- Minimum ten years of compounding experience, using water-borne Acrylic polymers for Pressure Sensitive Label and/or Graphics applications. Fewer years of experience acceptable with an advanced degree.
- Minimum ten years of compounding experience, using water-borne Acrylic and/or SBR polymers for Industrial Adhesives used in Packaging Lamination or Product Assembly applications. Fewer years of experience acceptable with an advanced degree.
- A solid technical knowledge of adhesive application/coating technologies is required. Additional experience with water-borne Acrylic and SBR polymers for non-woven binders desired.
- Strong communication skills are required, as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
