Job Description
Requirements: Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related discipline required. General knowledge of all of the following areas and advanced knowledge of at least one of the following areas is essential: synthetic organic chemistry, synthetic water-soluble polymer chemistry, Colloid & Interface Science and Physical Chemistry. Good computer skills are necessary as well as a basic understanding of statistics. Experience with new product development is highly desirable, with proven ability to lead people and teams. Ability to manage multiple technically complex projects simultaneously is essential. Ability to communicate to team members, peers and upper management is essential. A minimum of 3 years previous employment experience (post-graduation from Ph.D.) is essential. The position will involve working in a cross-functional team environment, managing up to 2-3 projects simultaneously, with direct line management of 5-8 scientists. The candidate must be able to direct applied research work with the aim of developing new technologies and value-added proprietary products for the Mining Chemicals Department.

The candidate will be required to oversee effective lab programs using the scientific method and statistical tools such as Six Sigma. Six Sigma knowledge is a plus, however training can be provided on the job.
