The Department of Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors, should an opening arise, to teach primarily in general and organic chemistry courses and other courses if needed. This includes grading, attending Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) meetings, holding office hours, and assisting with other duties as needed. The pool will remain in place for two calendar years; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must reapply. Screening of applicants begins immediately and will continue as needed; some appointments may begin in spring 2015. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the Department. Positions may range from part time to full time. The basic qualification for this position is the completion of all bachelor’s degree, or equivalent degree, requirements, or have degree candidate status in chemistry or a related field at the time of application. A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent degree, in chemistry or a related field is required by date of hire. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Appointments for fall semester are usually reviewed in August and for spring semester in January. The pool will close on January 2, 2017; if you would like to remain in the pool after that time you will need to submit a new application.
