Assistant Director for the Undergraduate Research Center for Sciences
The Division of Undergraduate Education at UCLA invites applications for the position of Assistant Director for the Undergraduate Research Center for Sciences. Under the supervision of the Undergraduate Research Center -Sciences Director, the Assistant Director is the primary manager and advisor for the following URC-Sciences programs and activities: Undergraduate Research Fellows Program (URFP), the Undergraduate Research Scholars Program (URSP), Maximizing Access to Research Careers (MARC), California Alliance for Minority Participation (CAMP), the Beckman Scholars Program, , the CARE Science, Engineering and Math (SEM) Summer Program, and the Undergraduate Science Journal. The Assistant Director teaches the Student Research Forum, HC101A, the Science Journal Course HC101B, and seminars for MARC students. The focus of this position is to support the research experiences for undergraduates, including outreach, counseling and management of introductory and advanced research opportunities. Some grant writing and program assessment is required.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Hiring salary range is $55,152 to $56,460/year.
A doctoral degree is required; Ph.D. in the life sciences, physical sciences or engineering, and post-doctoral research experience are essential and highly preferred. University-level teaching experience required. The successful candidate must have demonstrated experience in student mentoring. We are looking for someone with the ability to work collegially with faculty and staff; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; excellent written and presentation skills.
Position remains open until filled. This is a full-time (100% time) position, with a projected January 4, 2016 start date.
