Applications are invited for tenure-stream Assistant Professor to Professor level faculty positions in the Department of Pharmacology. Candidates who have a PhD, MD, or equivalent graduate degree are being recruited to expand a strong cadre of Pharmacology faculty. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and the Department of Pharmacology consistently rank among the top 10 of NIH funding. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and the department are pursuing an exciting vision to expand institutional basic research and clinical missions. Highly competitive salary, benefits and start-up funds are available. Laboratory, core facility and animal care space are located in research buildings housing investigators studying not only pharmacology, but also structural biology, computational biology, neurobiology, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, molecular pathology, immunology, cancer biology/therapeutics and transplantation biology. The Department of Pharmacology has state-of-the-art facilities supporting: microscopy; mass spectrometry; protein, organic, and combinatorial chemistry; genomics; receptor analysis; physiologic monitoring and high throughput drug discovery. Successful candidates will be expected to: have excellent communication skills, maintain an outstanding extramurally-supported research program and be committed to the teaching missions of the department. While all strong applicants will be considered, research interests that complement departmental expertise in cell, organ system and cardiovascular pharmacology, neuropharmacology, cell signaling, receptor function, cancer biology, DNA damage/repair, apoptotic signaling and drug discovery will be especially competitive.
