The Rockefeller University seeks a Science Informationist to join Library. The Science Informationist will be responsible for providing expert and highly customized research information support in areas of strategic scientific interest to The Rockefeller University. Will build working information research relationships with laboratories specific to their needs and areas of expertise. In addition to providing required scientific inputs to their research interests, the Science Informationist will provide support for the collection, management, archiving, and accessing of appropriate data and documents. Will be a liaison to all available library services and resources, provide knowledge and assistance with funding agency compliance issues and submission requirements, assist client labs with information on funding agency data requirements including developing data management plans and process flows, engage in other opportunities to archive, manage, and provide access to digital assets and datasets generated in the course of research, and insure the labs' compliance with legal and ethical requirements and standards. Will be a member of the library team and will contribute in all ways possible to the success of the group and the individuals in it, as well as to the fulfillment of the overall mission of the library to provide high quality, efficient and cost effective information support to the research and teaching goals of the university. Responsibilities include reviewing newly published literature and information resources for key items of interest to the University, and particularly to the targeted research group; attending lab meetings and other events pertinent to the activities and interests of this lab group; maintaining an active dialog with the researchers in this area, continuously evaluating their information needs and desires, and responding to those needs in a timely fashion; seeking new ways to provide effective, timely, and authoritative information support to this group, and to all of the Rockefeller research community; providing direct client assistance in the library's service areas; and responding professionally to any request for information research and support from members of the RU community. Will evaluate new resources and make recommendations for library acquisitions; maintain awareness of library issues, best practices, and technology developments; and create and maintain blogs, portals, websites, and other specialized resources and applications that contribute to the success of the targeted labs and researchers. Will collaborate with the Special Collections Librarian to develop concepts for displays that interpret and educate the Rockefeller community about RU history, science, faculty, and achievements, or other relevant topics; provide insights and recommendations to the University Librarian on collection and service issues; attend informational and training seminars on new information tools and resources; and conduct surveys, data gathering, and statistical analysis to respond to University Administration. Will participate in writing and producing the library newsletter; post information items to the library blog; make regular postings to the library wiki to promote collaboration; and collaborate with IT to develop new online tools and content for clients. Will assist with provision of direct reference/information services both in Markus Library and via the library chat capability and prepare and offer training on effective research methods and tools and how to use them.
