Assistant Professor of Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biochemistry to begin in August 2017.
A Ph.D. in chemistry or biochemistry is required. Ph.D.’s in closely related fields will be considered if the applicant has an undergraduate or master’s degree in chemistry or biochemistry. One year of teaching experience is required which may be fulfilled by two-semesters of half-time teaching assistantship in graduate school. Qualifications also include commitment to fostering and increasing racial and gender diversity on campus, excellent written and oral communication skills, and experience in mentoring undergraduate research. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to effectively teach general chemistry and upper-level lecture and lab courses in biochemistry. Ability to contribute to existing program emphases, and/or instrumental experience is preferred.
Teaching responsibilities include lecture and lab courses in biochemistry, general chemistry, and upper-level courses related to expertise. The successful candidate is expected to establish an independent research program that involves undergraduate students. Additional responsibilities include continued development of the biochemistry curriculum; seeking external funding for undergraduate research; academic advising, performing committee service and other duties as assigned.
