EVENTS AND LOGISTICS MANAGER, CAMBRIDGE SCIENCE FESTIVAL MIT Museum, to oversee the daily activities of the festival and its year-round offerings and ensure high quality logistical and administrative operations. Responsibilities include developing content consistent with the mission of the festival and the MIT Museum; managing collaborators and collaborations; directing logistics and overseeing production of programming; planning and implementing festival-related events that run throughout the year to help increase participation; supporting effective communication among academic, industry, community organizations, and the general public; managing social media presence; soliciting and selecting programming; assisting in developing and managing budgets; hiring and supervising vendors, venue staff, and other key providers; negotiating contracts; developing event schedules and timelines; determining and securing event venues and all city and MIT permissions and permits; assisting in developing marketing and public relations strategies and overseeing the production of materials; and working with volunteer coordinator to determine opportunities and train volunteers. Will report to the director of the Cambridge Science Festival.
REQUIRED: B.A.; three years of relevant experience; demonstrated record in special events management, public and community relations, and complex logistics management; familiarity with program delivery to community audiences; initiative; excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database development, social media platforms, and Internet applications.
