This is a 12-month administrative appointment with the expectation that the successful candidate will continue to perform scholarly work. The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry and a distinguished record of teaching excellence and research productivity and must also meet the university requirements for appointment as a Full Professor of Chemistry. Responsibilities of the new Head include budget management, resource allocation, and supervision of staff. They must also have excellent interpersonal and administrative skills, provide effective leadership to the Department, serve as an effective liaison between the faculty and administration, while managing what is expected to be a prolonged period of growth through effectively advocating the vision of the faculty both within and outside the University. Of particular importance is the hiring and mentoring of new faculty and expanding the Ph.D. program.
