Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. in polymer engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, physics, or a related discipline. Postdoctoral experience will be given favorable consideration. Other desired attributes are strong communication skills, commitment to collegiality, and enthusiasm for collaborative research. In addition to establishing an internationally recognized, externally funded research program, the successful applicant will be expected to direct graduate student research, teach graduate and undergraduate classes, and contribute to the functioning of the department, college, and university through service on committees and participation in departmental activities.
