Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track, Two Positions)

The Department of Chemistry, housed within LSU’s College of Science, seeks applicants for two full-time, tenure-track faculty positions beginning August 2017.
Assistant Professor of Environmental Chemistry (Requisition #R00000006): Candidates are required to have extensive experience in research – in any area of chemistry – but with environmental themes, broadly defined. Preference may be given for those with a physical chemistry perspective.
Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry (Requisition #R00006196): Candidates are required to have strong experience in organic chemistry, broadly defined. Preference may be given to those with interests in organic materials or biologically/medicinally related applications of organic chemistry.
Candidates are expected to establish a strong, well-funded widely recognized research program, publish results in appropriate journals or other media, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Chemistry, direct/supervise graduate and undergraduate students.
The LSU Department of Chemistry’s research occupies part of two buildings, Choppin Hall and the new Chemistry and Materials Building. There are a number of instruments facilities, including state-of-the-art NMR, mass spectrometry, microscopy and synchrotron.

Required Qualifications (both positions): Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field; demonstrated excellence in research and teaching.
