Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Physics
- Solid background in soft matter systems, such as colloids, macromolecules or relevant materials, solution-phase self-assembly (polymeric nano-structures, DNA nanotechnology, nanoparticle functionalization, etc.), and characterization of materials by small angle x-ray scattering, AFM, advanced optical and electron microcopy methods.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of nanoparticle synthesis and functionalization, optical measurements of nanomaterials, DNA assembly work, cryogenic electron microcopy methods, in-situ characterization of nanoparticles using x-ray scattering, particle tracking, TEM, AFM
BNL policy states that Research Associate appointments may be made to those who have received their doctoral degrees within the past five years.
