The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering is seeking to make multiple hires at the assistant, associate or full professor levels. Candidates with interests in all research areas will be considered. Applications are particularly encouraged in biological, energy and materials-related areas, which align with the Department’s participation in campus initiatives including the BioFrontiers Institute, the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute, and the Materials Science and Engineering program. The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering is a world-class department with 27 faculty members (including 1 joint with chemistry), approximately 60 postdoctoral fellows, 128 graduate students, and more than 800 undergraduate students. Our research program is extremely active, including multi-investigator research centers in biorefining and biofuels, membrane separations, pharmaceutical biotechnology, and photopolymerization.
Our graduate program emphasizes the PhD degree and attracts outstanding national and international students. We have two robust ABET accredited undergraduate degree programs, where the emphasis is on interactive learning, computer applications, and undergraduate research. Our undergraduate program is characterized by a high degree of faculty-student interaction and active learning, both inside and outside the classroom, and a wide variety of interdisciplinary options.
