Responsibilities: The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Bouve College of Health Sciences School of Pharmacy and the Department of Bioengineering in the College of Engineering at Northeastern University seek candidates at any academic rank (assistant/associate/full professor) in the area of structural biology relative to drug discovery, with specialization in cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) of membrane proteins and other macromolecules. Candidates must have a current vigorous and internationally competitive research program. The successful candidate will be expected to play a leading role in development of a structural biology program housed in a state-of-the-art electron microscopy facility to be funded by Northeastern. The goal of the new facility is to attract additional structural biology faculty who will collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment with an existing core of pharmaceutical and biomolecular researchers working at the cutting edge of drug discovery.
Qualifications: Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in structural biology, biophysics, medicinal chemistry, chemistry or a related field by the start date, as well as a demonstrated record of leadership in the cryo-EM field. Tenured candidates are expected to have an established funded research program. Tenure-track candidates are expected to develop a well-funded, high-impact research program. All candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching, and serve the university by helping it accomplish its teaching and research mission.
