Jackson State Univeristy has one of the top ranked chemistry departments in the country. JSU ranks 3rd in Bachelor's, 2nd in Master's and 3rd in Doctoral degrees in Physical Sciences (mainly chemistry)awarded to African Americans in the country (Diverse Issues in Higher Education). I am a product of the doctoral program at JSU in which I have gained a computational chemistry doctoral degree. The Department has 20 outstanding and diverse faculty members. JSU strives to build the best PhD program which fosters a culture and environment conducive for underrepresented minorities.
