Defiance College

Defiance College, chartered in 1850, has been nationally recognized for its successful efforts to implement a model of civic engagement and service learning. The College is featured in Colleges of Distinction as well as Colleges with a Conscience: 81 Great Schools with Outstanding Community Involvement published by The Princeton Review. Defiance College is ranked among the top 25 schools in the nation for service learning and in the top tier of comprehensive colleges in the Midwest by U.S. News and World Report, and has been named with distinction to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for its commitment to community service and Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. The College has also been recognized by the Templeton Foundation’s Honor Roll for Character-Building Colleges. The campus is located in the city of Defiance in northwest Ohio and is an independent, coeducational, liberal arts institution affiliated with the United Church of Christ. With broad opportunities for international academic research and student leadership through the McMaster School, Defiance College offers a small college environment with a high degree of student/faculty interaction and flexibility in developing pedagogical and research interests.
