The University of Oregon Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry has a long history of excellence in teaching and research in diverse branches of Chemistry. Research advances made here have made significant contributions to many areas of Chemistry and beyond, including Biochemistry, materials and nanoscience, chemical physics, molecular synthesis, medicinal chemistry, optics and spectroscopy, and theoretical chemistry. State-of-the-art science facilities make the Department a unique center for both undergraduate and graduate studies in Chemistry. Our Department is also proud of its tradition of excellence in teaching. Our undergraduates are very active in research labs and the high percentage of students performing research is a unique and invaluable aspect of our undergraduate experience.
