The Department of Chemistry at Illinois State University is one of the finest undergraduate chemistry programs in the nation. The department's success is due to its combination of the best qualities of small, private, liberal arts colleges and those of large, multipurpose universities. Twenty-one faculty members, approximately 150 undergraduate BS majors and 40 graduate students provide a lively environment which makes ISU on the largest producers of BS chemists and MS-thesis graduates among non Ph.D. granting institutions.
