The Department of Chemistry at Southern Oregon University invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Physical Chemistry, one-year term (with the potential to extend for an additional year), for September 16, 2017 through June 15, 2018. Teaching responsibilities of the position include physical chemistry lectures and labs, general chemistry labs, and oversight of student research. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in physical chemistry or a closely related field; postdoctoral experience and/or college level teaching experience is highly desirable. The Department of Chemistry values close interaction with students, and active research with undergraduates is expected. Southern Oregon University is a public, liberal arts university of 6,000 students. A major renovation of our science building was recently completed. The Department is well-equipped with a 400 MHz NMR, UV-Vis, GC, ICP, IR, HPLC, five MS systems including two LC-MS, and supporting equipment. For more information see http://www.sou.edu/chemistry.
