Angewandte Chemie International Edition

Editor-in-Chief

The Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh, German Chemical Society) and Wiley-VCH have initiated a search for a new Editor-in-Chief of Angewandte Chemie, the flagship publication of the GDCh. Angewandte Chemie is a leading chemistry journal that has a small but important magazine part and a large and strong scientific part covering chemistry in the broadest sense as well as neighboring disciplines; the journal’s authorship is truly international and its mix of sections and article types is unique.

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for developing the journal further in a very competitive environment at a time when scientific publishing experiences rapid technological changes and political challenges. You would work with a truly professional team of scientific editors (ca. 25 PhD chemists and assistants).

The editorial office is at the publishers Wiley-VCH in Weinheim, close to Heidelberg and Frankfurt. An attractive salary and fringe benefits can be expected. Applications should be sent online by January 31, 2017, using the job search on www.wiley.com.

After a broad and excellent chemistry education you have gained some thorough experience in chemical research. You are well versed in all aspects of editorial work, and the peer-review process in particular, and you have a solid understanding of journal development and the business aspects of journal publishing. You are a proven leader and teamwork is your “second nature”. You not only enjoy reading manuscripts and referee reports but also the wider literature. You will be working with other departments at the publishers and you will be in close contact with the GDCh and in particular with the journal’s Editorial Board and its International Advisory Board. Attending conferences and talking to authors and referees gives you particular satisfaction.
